Gaza Strip Pets

24/08/2005

Approximately 100 pets – an iguana, a donkey, various birds, turtles, dogs and cats – have been evacuated up until now from the Gaza Strip to shelters operated by non-profit associations in the various localities that are working to adopt them.  Efforts are currently being made to locate the families that owned pets that are wearing tags.  It is estimated that approximately 200 additional animals are still in the area; Agriculture Ministry veterinarians and various non-profit associations are working to collect them and deliver them to shelters.

Anyone who would like to either locate or adopt a pet is please requested to phone the Agriculture Ministry Veterinary Service at 03-9681610.
