Prime Minister Ehud Olmert this evening, spoke with German Chancellor Angela Merkel; they discussed ways to resolve the conflict on the northern border, especially the stationing of a multi-national force in southern Lebanon and ways to implement this. Earlier this evening, Prime Minister Olmert spoke with Australian Prime Minister John Howard and expressed his deep appreciation for Australian support for Israel and for Australia’s strong stand against Hizbullah. The two men discussed ways to resolve the conflict in Lebanon and the issue of a multi-national force. Earlier, Prime Minister Olmert spoke with Italian Prime Minister Romano Prodi who updated him on the results of yesterday’s Rome conference.
Prime Minister Olmert also spoke with Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper and apologized for the killing of a Canadian UNIFIL soldier in Lebanon.
