Prime Minister Ehud Olmert this evening attended a ceremony at the Jerusalem Underground Prisoners Museum (http://tinyurl.com/24zxqq) in which the Bible of the late Meir Feinstein (http://tinyurl.com/323jqn) was returned to members of his family. Feinstein had given the Bible to British warden Henry Godwin shortly before the former and fellow prisoner Moshe Barzani (http://tinyurl.com/323jqn) committed suicide rather than be executed. Godwin willed that the Bible be returned to the Feinstein family. Prime Minister Olmert said: “Like many others, I too grew up hearing the heroic tale of Feinstein and Barzani: their images are deeply engraved in my memory – the determined and powerful look of Moshe Barzani, and the calm and confident look on Meir Feinstein’s handsome face. They, who were in fact so young, became the heroes of our youth.” The full English text of the Prime Minister’s speech is at http://tinyurl.com/2s2wvd.
