Prime Minister Ehud Olmert met with French National Assembly President Bernard Accoyer, who is visiting Israel at the head of a large delegation including the heads of the various National assembly factions, both government and opposition.
Prime Minister Olmert noted the intensive contacts that he has been holding with French president Nicolas Sarkozy and the fact that France in particular, and Europe in general, are fulfilling an important and positive role in the peace process and on behalf of stability in the Middle East.
Regarding the challenge that Iran's attempt to achieve nuclear weapons poses to the international community, Prime Minister Olmert emphasized that Israel would not tolerate a nuclear Iran, added that in Israel there was no government or opposition on the issue and said that the Israeli position would not change under any future government
