Cabinet Approves PM's and Education Minister's Proposal to Allocate NIS 13 Million for Students who were Evacuated in the framework of the Disengagement Plan

12/07/2009

The Cabinet today approved Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's and Education Minister Gideon Saar's proposal to allocate NIS 13 million for assisting with students who were evacuated in the framework of the Disengagement Plan, in the 2009-2010 academic year.  The latter said that, "Thus we honor the Government's moral commitment to assist with activities designed to deal with both the uprooting and the reintegration in the framework of new lives, vis-à-vis academic studies and community life."

Prime Minister's Office Director-General Eyal Gabai said that, "The effects of the disengagement have not dissipated in this area as well and we have an obligation to assist the young people.  To this end, the Education and Finance ministries have responded to the initiative of the Prime Minister's Office to budget funds for this important goal."
