Cabinet Extends Temporary Housing Eligibility for Families that were Evacuated from the Gaza Strip and Northern Samaria

12/07/2009

The Cabinet todayapproved Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's proposal to extend the eligibility to live in temporary housing for families that were evacuated from the Gaza Strip and northern Samaria.

Prime Minister's Office Director-General Eyal Gabai said that, "Even though four years have passed since the disengagement, over 90% of evacuees have yet to move into permanent housing. The government has a moral obligation to complete the mission. Therefore, the Prime Minister has instructed me to work towards a systematic solution, as well as providing a response to concrete problems. In the context of dealing with the concrete problems, there is – in the decisions submitted for Government approval – provision for extending the eligibility for temporary housing, and budgetary assistance for students in the coming academic year."
